Responsibilities:
 
Tasks
  • Accompany patients on outdoor recreational activities
  • Perform other duties related to patient care and comfort
  • Weigh, lift, turn and position patients
  • Make beds and maintain patients' rooms
  • Transport patients in wheelchair or stretcher
  • Administer bedside and personal care
  • Feed or assist in feeding

Job Summary
The Home Support Worker – Live-In Care provides compassionate, reliable, and person-centred care to clients in their private homes. The role focuses on supporting daily living activities, ensuring safety, maintaining a clean and comfortable home environment, and offering meaningful companionship while respecting the client’s dignity, preferences, and independence.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Personal Care & Daily Living Support
  • Assist with personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and toileting as required
  • Provide reminders and support for daily routines
  • Encourage independence while offering assistance when needed
  • Monitor client’s overall well-being and report concerns promptly
 
Companionship & Emotional Support
  • Provide consistent companionship and emotional reassurance
  • Engage the client in conversation, activities, and social interaction
  • Encourage participation in hobbies, games, and daily choices
  • Support the client’s emotional comfort and sense of inclusion
 
Meal Preparation & Nutrition
  • Prepare nutritious meals and snacks according to client preferences
  • Encourage adequate hydration throughout the day
  • Maintain kitchen safety at all times
  • Support safe involvement in meal preparation where appropriate
 
Household Maintenance
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the home
  • Perform housekeeping duties such as:
  • Cleaning common areas and washrooms
  • Washing dishes and kitchen surfaces
  • Laundry
  • Follow infection control and hygiene standards
 
Safety & Observation
  • Ensure a safe living environment at all times
  • Observe and report any changes in physical, emotional, or cognitive condition
  • Follow care plans and agency policies consistently
  • Respect client privacy, confidentiality, and boundaries
 
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience in home care, live-in care, or personal support work
  • Training or experience in dementia care is an asset
  • Compassionate, patient, and dependable
  • Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully
  • Physically able to perform caregiving and household tasks
  • Valid documentation to work legally
  • Background check required
